β€œFilthy Dreamers,” a documentary that looks at the effort of students, faculty and the president of Florida State Women’s College to stand up for academic freedom and against censorship in the 1920s, will be shown at 1 p.m.Β Feb. 23, in the ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ Visual Arts Building, Room 132.

The film was co-directed by faculty members Robert Cassanello, an associate professor of history, and Lisa Mills, an associate director of film, and narrated by actress Cheryl Hines. Cassanello and Mills won an Emmy last year for their documentary β€œThe Committee.”

A discussion after the film will include the directors and other guests. The event is will be hosted by Women’s Studies, School of Visual Arts and Design, and the History Department.
