Space Game Campus Closure

Memphis | Friday, Oct. 22 | 7 p.m. | ESPN2

ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ hosts two weekday games this season: Boise State on Thursday, Sept. 2.Μύ and Memphis on Friday, Oct. 22. Both games kick off at 7 p.m.

On those days, classes on the main campus, in the Central Florida Research Park, at ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ Downtown, at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management and on ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ Connect campuses will conclude at 2 p.m. Offices at those locations also will close for normal operations at 2 p.m.

• Faculty who teach classes that start before 2 p.m. but end after that time will have the option to hold the portion of those classes that comes before 2 p.m.
• Some staff members may be required to work past the time when the university closes. In those cases, employees can speak with their supervisors about how their areas will handle operations after 2 p.m.
• ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ will re-open for normal business operations, including regular class and activity schedules, at 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 23. Staff members whose regular work hours begin prior to 6 a.m. should consult their supervisors about starting times.

Saturday classes will be held as scheduled on all of ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½β€™s campuses on game days.

COVID policies

We’re excited to welcome our fans back to ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½. We expect all of our fans to do their part to help us complete a successful 2021 season. That means taking precautions to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect those around you as well as our student-athletes and coaches.

We strongly encourage all of our fans to get vaccinated if you are able to do so, and we strongly recommend that all of our fans wear masks while indoors, in line with the latest CDC guidelines. Although most of our stadium is outdoors, please keep in mind that some areas, such as rest rooms, are indoors.

Masks will be available at locations inside the stadium for fans who need them.

We encourage you to wash your hands frequently, and there will be hand-sanitizer stations available throughout the stadium.

If you have COVID-19, are not feeling well or are in quarantine, please stay home and do not come to the game. You can easily transfer your tickets to friends or family online, or post your tickets for resale through your ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ Account Manager.

All season tickets, group tickets, and single-game tickets are available digitally through the ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ Gameday app or your phone’s web browser.

VisitΜύΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½Knights.com/appΜύfor more information and answers to some of the most frequently asked ticket-related questions. The app has been updated with a new user-friendly option to access your tickets well before you arrive at your gate.

Season tickets are very close to selling out. Fans interested in still purchasing from the minimal inventory can call 407-823-1000. ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ faculty and staff are eligible to receive 20% off football season tickets (applies to ticket portion only). If any single-game tickets are available, they can be purchased at ucfknights.com/tickets.

Admission to home games is free for ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ students, but mobile tickets must be claimed through the official ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ Gameday app prior to game day. The app is available for free on both Apple and android devices.ΜύClaiming a free student mobile ticket does not guarantee entry as admission is first come, first served.

Once you arrive at the gate, you must have your phone in order to scan the ticket barcode, *AND*Μύyou must show your student IDΜύfor entry into the stadium.

Know Your Gate Entry

It is important to know your gate before entering the Bounce House. The appropriate gate is listed on your game ticket. Fans can also locate their gate, which is broken down by stadium section, listed in the graphic above.

Note:ΜύGate 15 no longer exists as a point of entry due to the newΜύGarvy CenterΜύfor Student-AthleteΜύNutrition.

Clear Bag Policy

To provide a safer environment and more expedited entry for fans, ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ abides byΜύa clear bag policy that limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into all sporting events at the Bounce House. It is strongly recommended you familiarize yourself with the policyΜύif you plan on attending a game to learn what is and is not permitted inside the stadium.

Parking and Shuttles

Fans who drive to campus on game days can park in a variety of garages and lots. While some garages and lots – in the Gold Zone – require permits, fans can park for free in most areas of campus.

Important note about tailgating: Tailgating is not permitted in any parking garage. In parking lots, tailgating shall be confined to the area immediately behind your vehicle and shall not impede traffic flow or parking spaces for other vehicles.

Preferred parking lots and garages are located in the northeast sector of campus and are closest to the Bounce House. Gold Zone lots require a valid football game-day parking permit, or an ADA permit for fans with disabilities parking in designated spaces. Permits must be properly displayed at all times from the rearview mirror. All permits are limited to one parking space.

Preferred routing to Gold Zone parking (from the south) is via Libra Drive/Gemini Boulevard East and (from the north or west) via McCulloch Road/North Orion Boulevard.

Fans without permits who wish to park closer to the stadium can park in Garage H for $20. Payments can be made with cash or credit card. Donations support scholarships for ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ students.

Garage H, located near the FAIRWINDSΜύAlumni Center, also accommodates vehicles for authorized students displaying Student Government-provided parking passes and credentialed staff with permits for that garage.

Free parking is available for fans on a first-come, first-served basis in most other lots and garages on campus.

Exceptions include all residential lots and the Libra Garage on Libra Drive, which are reserved at all times for students living on campus.

Parking lot B4, located at the intersection of Central Florida Boulevard and Gemini Boulevard South, is reserved for official university business.

Parking is only authorized in designated parking lots and garages. Patrons who illegally park on or along any campus roadways or in other non-designated parking areas are subject to towing and fines.

No vehicular traffic or parking are authorized on East Plaza Drive on game days until two hours following the end of the game (or when authorized by ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ Police). Patrons who violate this restriction are subject to towing and fines.

Parking for guests with disabilities is available on the first level of Garage C with a valid accessible (disabled permits or a Disabled Veteran license plate) on a first-come, first-served basis. The individual who was issued the permit must be with the vehicle. Garage C is located at the intersection of North Orion Boulevard and Scorpius Street.

A free shuttle for patrons with disabilities and fans who accompany them will be provided from the bus stop adjacent to Garage C to the Bounce House (Gate 14). Those shuttles will run from four hours prior to kickoff until two hours after kickoff. Throughout the game and postgame, shuttles will be available, picking up from Gate 14, to return patrons with disabilities to Garage C.

Additional accessible parking spaces are available throughout the campus, and these spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis to any guest with a disability who displays an authorized accessible (disabled) permit or Disabled Veteran license plate. However, no direct shuttle service will be available for these spaces.

Gemini Boulevard North (from Parking Garage H to North Orion Boulevard) will be closed to all traffic from two hours prior to kickoff until the game starts. Once the game starts until midway through the 4th quarter, this road will be open to all traffic. This road will again be closed to all traffic from midway through the 4th quarter until two hours following the end of the game (or as required).

Beginning 1 hour and 30 minutes after kickoff, all North Orion Boulevard lanes will be dedicated to traffic exiting campus. No traffic will be able to enter campus via North Orion Boulevard.

Gemini Boulevard North between East Plaza and West Plaza drives will be closed to vehicular traffic prior to and during tailgating each game day. Memory Mall tailgaters who wish to drop off their tailgating gear in that area can do so by the barricades on either side. The road will be reopened at the discretion of law enforcement following the conclusion of tailgating.

Fans can avoid game-day traffic by parking atΜύResearch PavilionΜύand catching aΜύPark and Ride shuttle. Fans may park at the Research Pavilion building, located at 12424 Research Parkway in the Central Florida Research Park adjacent to campus, and be transported to the Research 1 Transit drop-off, adjacent to Garage C nearΜύMemory Mall.ΜύThe shuttles start four hours before kickoff and end two hours after the game ends.

Most student shuttle routes connecting the main campus and nearby apartment complexes will run throughout the day. Game day shuttle service will conclude two hours after the game ends. Game day routes include all normally serviced apartment complexes with the exception of Northview, Tivoli and Northgate due to their close proximity to the stadium. Service to those communities will end at 3 p.m.

Rosen College students can ride 3 or 5 p.m. shuttles to the main campus for game day. Downtown students can ride 3:30, 4:30 or 5 p.m. shuttles to the main campus. Shuttles will return to both campuses four hours after kickoff. In addition, routes departing the main campus for Rosen at 3:45 and for downtown at 3:30 p.m. will continue.

A valid ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ ID is required to access shuttles.

Game Day Safety

Protecting campus is theΜύΜύtop priority, so if you see activity that looks suspicious, say something. ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½PD can be reached 24/7 by calling 407-823-5555 or 911 in an emergency.

And remember to stay hydrated. Four Water Monster stations will be located inside the stadium around each of the four corners of the lower level concourse to provide fans with complimentary ice water.

Tailgating

Campus parking lots open at the following times on game days:

• 8 a.m. for all Saturday games and the USF game on Friday, Nov. 26
• 2 p.m. for the Boise State game on Thursday, Sept. 2, and the Memphis game on Friday, Oct. 22

• Six hours before kickoff, but no earlier than 8 a.m., for all Saturday games and the USF gameΜύon Friday, Nov. 26.
• 3:30 p.m. for the Boise State game on Thursday, Sept. 2, and the Memphis game on Friday, Oct. 22

All tailgating spaces on Memory Mall once again will be reserved for ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ students and alumni. On June 12, 2016, 49 people were killed when a shooter opened fire in the nightclub in downtown Orlando. Among those killed were Juan Ramon Guerrero, a ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ student, and Christopher Andrew Leinonen, a ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ alumnus.

In the days and weeks following, the ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ and Orlando community showed an outpouring of kindness to support the victims, their families and friends. At ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ alone, 10 blood drives June 13-27 resulted in 424 donated units of blood and 74 new bone-marrow donor registrations.

ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½β€™s June 8 blood drive, in partnership with OneBlood, will be the largest blood-donation site in east Orlando in remembrance of Pulse.

The Dodge Charger’s color scheme is red, MADD’s official color, and features the number β€œ.08” – the blood alcohol level considered too drunk to drive for a person age 21 or over.

Ofc. Agustin Gonzalez, a department leader in DUI arrests,Μύ will be driving the new car, which will be featured at this weekend’s Walk Like MADD, the largest regional fundraiser in support of MADD.

For the first time, ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ will host the walk on April 29 at Memory Mall. Registration will start at 5 p.m., and the event kicks off at 5:30 p.m.

β€œFollowing the walk, agencies from across Central Florida will saturate Orange County with increased DUI patrol and enforcement activities,” said ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ Police Chief Richard Beary. β€œIn my opinion, drunk driving is a selfish, avoidable crime. It’s important to think about other people before you make that reckless decision to drive drunk.”

On average, 27 people in America are killed each day by an impaired driver. MADD’s efforts and events such as the walk help to raise community awareness about the very real dangers of impaired driving.

Knights Go Green will feature 40 to 60 student volunteers stationed near recycling and trash bins on Memory Mall and at Bright House Networks Stadium, to help inform people what can be recycled. Student volunteers also will pick up recyclable items that are left behind at Memory Mall and other tailgating areas.

Zachary Good, Volunteer ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ environmental director and a sophomore political science student, developed the plans for Knights Go Green after learning of the success that other universities, such as the University of Colorado and Arizona State University, have experienced with their recycling programs.

β€œEducation, in my opinion, is the biggest component for bridging the gap between apathy and inconvenienceΜύthat hold a lot of individuals back from recycling,” Good said. β€œKnights Go Green provides volunteerΜύopportunities to students while simultaneously educating tailgaters and attendees of the game on how to appropriatelyΜύdispose of their waste.”

The spring game will be a pilot for Knights Go Green, which is being led by Volunteer ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ in partnership with the Student Government Association and several ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ departments. The program is expected to continue into the 2017 football season and also could eventually expand to basketball games and other events on campus.

Tailgating Times for Spring Game

As in prior seasons, tailgating for the spring game will be allowed only in the E lots around Bright House Networks Stadium and at Memory Mall.

The E lots will open to all fans at 9 a.m. Memory Mall will open at 12:30 p.m. for students and alumni who have made reservations in advance. The open container waiver for both the stadium lots and Memory Mall will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Tailgating in all lots and the open container waiver will conclude at 6 p.m., 30 minutes prior to the 6:30 p.m. kickoff.

New Tailgating Policies for Regular Season

For ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½β€™s seven regular season home games, tailgating on Memory Mall and in most other areas of campus will now start six hours prior to kickoff – but no earlier than 8 a.m. To encourage Knights fans to arrive at the stadium before games begin, tailgating will conclude 30 minutes prior to kickoff.

ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ and the Student Government Association wanted to bring the tailgating times more in line with the policies of the National Football League and American Athletic Conference teams.

ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½β€™s new policy permits 5Β½ hours of tailgating for most games. The NFL permits 5 hours, and American schools generally allow between 4 and 6 hours of tailgating.

For the regular season, the E lots near the stadium, which are primarily reserved for Golden Knights Club donors, will continue to open at 8 a.m. on all game days.

The 2017 walk will take place at ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½β€™s Memory Mall Saturday, April 29. Registration will start at 5 p.m., and the event will start at 5:30 p.m.

The night of the walk, law enforcement from across Central Florida will participate in a DUI saturation patrol to get impaired drivers off the streets and support MADD’s efforts to save lives. Walk attendees will have the unique opportunity to witness the 8 p.m. law enforcement briefing that will kick off the patrol.

On average 27 people in America are killed each day by an impaired driver. That’s especially upsetting when the fact that drunk driving is 100 percent preventable is considered.

MADD’s efforts and events such as the walk help to raise community awareness about the very real impact driving under the influence can have on individuals, families and whole communities.

With Spring Break fast approaching, Safe Knight Week, which runs March 6-10, is an opportunity to learn about self-care, violence prevention and emergency preparedness.

The week will kick off with the Safe Knight Week carnival, which will showcase the safety and wellness services at ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ and throughout the community. The carnival will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Memory Mall.

Tuesday’s theme is violence prevention, and highlights include an It’s On Us walk that will leave from Ferrell Commons at noon and a self-defense class that will start at 6 p.m. at Global ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½.

Wednesday’s events will focus on physical and mental well-being, with HIV testing at the Recreation and Wellness Center and an evening healthy cooking competition. Thursday and Friday’s events will focus on alcohol and high-risk behaviors.

Safe Knight Week is sponsored by the following offices within the Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services: Wellness and Health Promotion Services, Student Health Services, Student Care Services, the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, Student Government Association, Counseling and Psychological Services and Recreation and Wellness Center. Co-sponsors of this year’s Safe Knight Week are: the Department of Security and Emergency Management; ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ Police Department; Green Dot; and Environmental Health and Safety.

Knights on the Mall will feature approximately 330 spaces this season, an increase from about 250 in 2015. There will be more spaces in all three sections of Memory Mall – the alumni section closest to CFE Arena and the two other sections open to students.

In response to student and alumni feedback from last season, registration will open at 6 p.m. on the Sunday before each home game.

For ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½β€™s Sept. 3 home opener against South Carolina State, reservations will open at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. Spaces are reserved for free online on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tailgating activities for the ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½-South Carolina State game will begin at noon, and fans with reserved spots on Memory Mall can check in starting at 11 a.m. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. at Bright House Networks Stadium.

Students and alumni can select their tailgating spaces for free. The person who makes the reservation must be the one to check in for the group on game day.

The Student Government Association and the university have worked together, with support from the ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ Alumni Association and ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½ Athletics, to develop and enhance the new tailgating experience. Fans no longer have to arrive several hours before tailgating begins to land a coveted spot on Memory Mall.

Can I set up my account before reservations open?

Reserving spaces will require a quick process to set up a user account on the site. To ensure the fastest access to tailgating spaces once reservations go live, it is recommended that students and alumni set up their accounts before Sunday evening. The same account can be used to make reservations for future games.

Can I reserve spaces for the entire season?

Reservations for each game must be made separately.

How will reservations work for the Family Weekend game?

Reservations for ΒιΆΉΣ³»­΄«Γ½β€™s second home game, Sept. 17 against Maryland, will open to alumni and students at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11.

Can students and alumni sign up for specific spaces?

Yes. They can select a space from the map on the registration website.

What else is new on Memory Mall this season?

Large water coolers purchased by the Student Government Association will be set up throughout Memory Mall and refilled throughout the day for fans to use for free.

What does my reservation include?

It guarantees a designated tailgating spot on game day. Fans must provide their own tailgating gear.ΜύStudent reservations include a complimentary parking pass for Garage H provided by the Student Government Association.

How late can I check in if I have a reserved space?

Fans with tailgating spots must check in no later than three hours before kickoff.

Will I be able to register for a space on game day?

Unreserved spaces (if any) will be available to students and alumni starting at check-in time – 11 a.m. for the South Carolina State game. Those interested should go to any of the three check-in tables set up on Memory Mall. Additional spaces may become available starting three hours before kickoff if some fans with tailgating spots have not checked in.

Where can fans who do not have reservations tailgate?

They can set up their gear in any other allowed areas on campus except for Memory Mall. All fans are still welcome to enjoy the food trucks and other activities on Memory Mall.
