• • Grab your favorite drink and settle in at a coffee shop. Campus favorites like Dunkin’ Donuts, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Foxtail Coffee or Starbucks are ideal if you enjoy a little background noise while studying, meeting with a group or working on a project.

• • Escape the bustle of campus at the Burnett Honors College Meditation Garden, a peaceful outdoor space where shaded seating, lush greenery and a tranquil koi pond create a relaxing environment for reading, studying or recharging between classes.

• • If you’re crossing the Dr. Phillips Academic Commons Bridge between classes at �鶹ӳ����ý Downtown, pause to review your notes or catch up on reading in one of the quiet seating areas overlooking campus.

• • The shaded lounge area in front of Addition Financial Arena at Knights Plaza offers a comfortable place to catch up on assignments, meet up with friends or unwind between classes.

Prioritize Your Health and Well-Being

Taking care of yourself is just as important as keeping up with your coursework. When you feel your best, you’re better prepared to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

Through �鶹ӳ����ý’s wide variety of health and wellness services, you’ll have support physically, mentally and emotionally throughout the semester.

That holistic approach to serving students recently earned �鶹ӳ����ý national recognition. The university received Insight Into Academia magazine’s 2026 Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being Award for fostering a campus culture in which students and employees have access to meaningful wellness resources, supportive communities and proactive care.

Available student well-being and support resources include:

Make an impact beyond campus with Volunteer �鶹ӳ����ý’s Day of Service. Team up with fellow Knights and four local community partners for a morning of hands-on service supporting youth and mentoring, the environment, education and literacy. Choose the cause that speaks to you, meet new people and have fun while giving back to the greater Orlando community. Students will earn three service hours for participating.

Service sites are selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Arrive at 7:30 a.m. for check-in, and RSVP on KnightConnect to participate.

• Pegasus Palooza, �鶹ӳ����ý’s annual welcome week, greets new and returning students to campus with a variety of events including notable headliners at Comedy Knight and Concert Knight.

• �鶹ӳ����ý Homecoming Week,��featuring Spirit Splash,��kicks off Monday,��Oct. 19,��and concludes with the �鶹ӳ����ý football team’s matchup against BYU on Saturday,��Oct. 24.

• Space Game, a football game unlike any other in the nation, pays tribute to our �鶹ӳ����ý’s roots as America’s Space University. This year’s matchup against Baylor on Friday, Oct. 30, marks 10 years of the Space Game.

• , held each spring at  Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, showcases the artistic talents of �鶹ӳ����ý’s faculty and students in performances, exhibitions, presentations and interactive experiences.

• Gather Luncheon,��a community-building event in the spring hosted by Wellness & Health Promotion Services and Dining Services,�� brings hundreds of students together  for a free, three-course meal.

Recreation, Intramurals and Sports Clubs

In addition to its fitness and recreation facilities, the Recreation and Wellness Center has longstanding intramural and sports club programs that allow students to form friendships and win championships, sometimes on the brightest of stages.

The RWC’s intramural sports program welcomes all �鶹ӳ����ý students, especially those who are new to Orlando and haven’t met enough peers to form their own team. Thanks to its free agency feature, individuals ca be matched up with others or be paired with an established team.

The sports club includes 45 different sports, encompassing everything from judo to lacrosse to wakeboarding and have produced some of �鶹ӳ����ý’s most notable alumni. Gold medalist Phil Dalhausser ’02, who played club volleyball while pursuing his business degree, and bronze medalist Kristen Thomas ’16, who began her rugby career as a theatre studies major at �鶹ӳ����ý,��both went on to represent Team USA at multiple Summer Olympic Games.

�鶹ӳ����ý is a member of one of the premiere conferences in the nation, the Big 12. From Fear the Fronds to Zombie Nation, the student section’s energy is an integral part of the game day atmosphere and gives the Knights a distinct home field (and court) advantage.

Joining the official group has its perks, including football tickets automatically loaded to members’ Ticketmaster accounts, a dedicated fast pass entrance at all �鶹ӳ����ý men’s basketball games, and first access to post-season student ticket claims.

Students can also contribute to game-day experiences by joining , a more than 390-member marching band student organization that performs at pregame shows, halftime shows, pep rallies and other fan-fest events. By creating the soundtrack for these dynamic events, the Marching Knights serve as one of the most vibrant and visible forces for school spirit.

Engage in Research

Undergraduate research provides opportunities to build a learning community with faculty and fellow students while engaging in meaningful work that develops solutions for challenges facing our communities,��industries and the world.

In addition to forging connections with peers and mentors, this practical experience allows students to build their professional resumes before they graduate.

Several cultural museums in the area offer free entry,��including the  on the main campus,��Rollins Museum of Art and Mead Garden in nearby Winter Park,��and the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Central Florida in Maitland. �ճ����acclaimed Orlando Museum of Art offers free entry on the third Thursday of each month as part of its Access for All initiative.

Most of the programs in the College of Community Innovation and Education are now downtown, but criminal justice has ��������moved and those courses are still taught on the main campus.

�鶹ӳ����ý Downtown students must also get the newest version of the �鶹ӳ����ý ID in order to access buildings on campus before and after business hours. If you do not have the latest version of the �鶹ӳ����ý ID, you can turn in your old one at card services in the Communication and Media building to receive a free new one. If you do not have an old �鶹ӳ����ý ID to turn in, you will have to pay for a new �鶹ӳ����ý ID.

Financial Aid

For information on financial aid, read our guide here. In general, you should check your my�鶹ӳ����ý account and complete any items on your to-do list. If you have successfully completed the financial aid process you can expect your approved aid to be disbursed during the second week of classes.

It’s important to complete the confirmation of academic activity during the first week so you will receive your financial aid on time.

Food

For a list of dining options on campus, including the ’63 South dining hall, Chick-fil-A, and Panda Express, click .  There’s also Burger U, Jimmy John’s, The Pop Parlour, Domino’s Pizza, Gringos Locos, Dunkin’, Subway and Knightro’s by Knights Plaza. There’s also a Domino’s in the John T. Washington Center.

Topper’s Creamery by the Reflecting Pond offers $1 cones on Wednesday.

A variety of food options opening inside of UnionWest at Creative Village this fall, however they will not be open during the first week of classes. During the first week of class, you can grab a bite from on-campus food trucks, pop-up eateries and nearby restaurants.

Football Game

On Thursday, Aug. 29, �鶹ӳ����ý kicks off football season with the first game against Florida A&M University at Spectrum Stadium at 7:30 p.m. For our guide to the game click here.

Class and university operations at main, Rosen and downtown campuses and Research Park will close at 2 p.m. to allow time for game-day preparations. Campus activity and operations will resume Friday, Aug. 30 at 6 a.m.

All parking and transportation information can be found here. One of the most important things to know is back-in parking is no longer allowed on any �鶹ӳ����ý campus. Everyone at �鶹ӳ����ý must park nose-in, tail-out, and failure to abide by this policy will result in a warning or citation. This method of parking is intended to increase campus safety and will help with Parking Services’ transition to digital permits in the future.

Another major change is metered parking throughout campus no longer accepts coins. Now you must pay for parking at designated spaces by using the or calling 407-809-4834.

Pegasus Palooza / Welcome Week

The week-long annual celebration welcomes students on all of �鶹ӳ����ý’s campuses to the fall semester with events such as Knight Rave, a pool party and more. It all starts Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. at the Palooza Carnival and ends with a Day of Service on Aug. 31 at 8 a.m. For more information and the full schedule, visit

�鶹ӳ����ý Downtown students can take part in Pegasus Palooza by bringing their �鶹ӳ����ý ID to the events. There will be shuttles to take downtown students to and from the following Pegasus Palooza events:

• The Knighting and Opening Knight (a welcoming event that will be also be livestreamed ), Aug. 25; departing from downtown at 2:30 p.m.; leaving for downtown at 7 p.m.
• Comedy Knight featuring Pete Davidson, Aug. 26; departing from downtown at 6:30 p.m.; leaving for downtown at 10 p.m.
• Concert Knight featuring Blackbear, Aug. 28; departing from downtown at 6:30 p.m.; leaving for downtown at 10 p.m.
• Late Knights, Aug. 30; departing from downtown at 7 p.m., leaving for downtown at 12

There will also be a held on the downtown campus with events such as a week-long scavenger hunt, esports tournament and bike-trail outing. Students who want an exclusive look at their downtown campus before classes begin are invited to join a on Friday, Aug 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. You’ll be able to tour the new campus buildings and visit with student services and organizations that will be at the downtown campus.

Rosen Campus

Rosen College of Hospitality Management students should double-check their schedules to verify which campus their classes are being held. Some are offered at Rosen while others are on main campus. Also, be sure to check the shuttle schedule and traffic patterns to make sure you make it to class on time.

Study Resources

Start the semester off right by becoming familiar with the Student Academic Resource Center. This learning center is in Room 117 of Trevor Colbourn Hall and offers tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic workshops and more.

Online students can also access SARC resources through the website.

�鶹ӳ����ý Downtown students can access the Learning Support Center on campus for tutoring in general education classes and the writing center. You can also check out materials, such as graphing and scientific calculators, here.

All Knight Study locations are 24-hour study centers on campus offering computer access, study rooms and areas, Wi-Fi, and free Scantrons and printing. The AKS in Ferrell Commons is open Monday through Friday during the fall. The location in Knights Plaza is open seven days a week during the fall.

Supplies and Printing

Using your valid �鶹ӳ����ý ID you can access free printing in the Student Government Association’s Computer Lab in Room 209 of the Student Union, All Knight Study at Ferrell Commons and All Knight Study at Knights Plaza.

You can also use your �鶹ӳ����ý ID to get one free Scantron per day at the All Knight Study locations or at the SGA information desk in Room 214 of the Student Union. Free green books are also available, but you are limited to three per semester.

Technology

If you’re having technical issues or don’t own a computer, you can use Windows PCs, Macs or check out these devices for free at the John C. Hitt Library, Tech Commons I lab, Tech Commons II lab and Classroom Building I. Depending on the location you can also check out other items such as tablets and GoPros.

You can also access free software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and more on any computer. �鶹ӳ����ý Apps is also available for Android and iOS devices. Pegasus Palooza is the annual Welcome Week held during the first week of fall classes. This year marks the first time Palooza programming will be extended into the first few weeks of the semester. The executive board is hard at work planning what is sure to be another huge success. The call for programs will be sent out in the coming weeks.

On June 28, the Pegasus Palooza Summer Bash was held at the Leisure Pool where students swam, played pool volleyball, danced to the DJ and enjoyed Jeremiah’s Italian Ice. Over 1,000 students attended; a record-breaking number for the event.

“We were so excited by the turnout; it’s a great event for students to have fun in a safe environment before the first day of classes,” stated Abby Nobili, program coordinator.

The annual LINK Summer B Block Party was held on June 30 in the Academic Village Courtyard. Students had the chance to talk to representatives from over 25 different offices, spin wheels for prizes, partake in “inebriation goggle” activities and join in the Amazing Race, a campuswide scavenger hunt. The Block Party had 424 students in attendance and 12 teams participated in the race.

Both events were great starts to the six weeks of summer programming that will culminate with “LINKO” on August 4.

LINKO is LINK’s fun and fast-paced version of BINGO. Students receive LINKO cards at check-in and play classic rounds of four corners, filling in a row, creating letters and more for a chance to win great prizes. First to win must stand up and yell LINKO.
