The ΒιΆΉΣ³»΄«Γ½ Public Safety team welcomed its newest patrol officers at a swearing-in ceremony attended by family, friends and colleagues last week.
βAt the ΒιΆΉΣ³»΄«Γ½ Police Department, we strive to be the most professional and innovative campus police department in the country,β says ΒιΆΉΣ³»΄«Γ½ Police Chief Carl Metzger β03MS. βWe do that by hiring the best and the brightest β¦ and ΒιΆΉΣ³»΄«Γ½PD is in great hands with the addition of these three officers.β
The new officers will be assigned to the patrol division upon completion of their field-training program, where they will spend several weeks paired with senior officers to receive hands-on experience out in the field before graduating to solo patrol.
Meet the Officers
- Adriel Rivera Aponte previously served with the St. Cloud Police Department after graduating from Dr. Phillips High School. Originally from Puerto Rico, he now calls Orlando home and is looking forward to building a positive relationship between students and law enforcement while getting to know the ΒιΆΉΣ³»΄«Γ½ community.
- Jonathan Mattingly comes to ΒιΆΉΣ³»΄«Γ½PD after serving with the Oviedo Police Department for several years. He chose to make the switch to ΒιΆΉΣ³»΄«Γ½ after working closely with ΒιΆΉΣ³»΄«Γ½PD officers during events like game day. He appreciated that he was always treated like family and looks forward to engaging with students.
- Michael Rivera graduated from Valencia College and previously served as a deputy sheriff with Seminole County. He chose to join ΒιΆΉΣ³»΄«Γ½PD because he believes in the organization’s mission and values, and looks forward to interacting with students and being a positive influence.
