{"id":100269,"date":"2019-07-08T11:02:32","date_gmt":"2019-07-08T15:02:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=100269"},"modified":"2024-04-16T16:55:50","modified_gmt":"2024-04-16T20:55:50","slug":"ucf-to-test-emergency-communication-tools-wednesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/ucf-to-test-emergency-communication-tools-wednesday\/","title":{"rendered":"Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ to Test Emergency Communication Tools Wednesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½\u2019s preparations for potential emergency situations include regular tests of the communication tools that provide critical information to the Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ community.<\/p>\n<p>Several of those Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ Alert communication tools will be tested Wednesday, July 10.<\/p>\n<p>In preparation for Wednesday\u2019s alert testing, students and faculty and staff members are encouraged to log in to myÂ鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ and review their Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ Alert settings to ensure that contact information (email, cell phone number, and mobile provider) is correct.<\/p>\n<p>The emergency communication functions that will be tested Wednesday include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2014<\/strong> Outdoor sirens, which emit a tone followed by voice instructions, will be tested at noon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2014<\/strong> The Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ website, <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;font-size: 1rem\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.ucf.edu<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\"><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">, will be tested from noon to 1 p.m. For most of the testing time, the Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ home page will remain active and fully functional with an alert bar at the top of the page. All messages on the alert bar will be marked as tests. A portion of the website test will involve replacing the regular home page with an entirely text-only home page that may be used during some emergencies. When that text-only page is active, users will not be able to access links typically found on the Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ home page.
