{"id":118792,"date":"2021-04-06T10:23:29","date_gmt":"2021-04-06T14:23:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=118792"},"modified":"2024-02-09T11:55:39","modified_gmt":"2024-02-09T16:55:39","slug":"ucf-sees-record-numbers-for-day-of-giving-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/ucf-sees-record-numbers-for-day-of-giving-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ Sees Record Numbers for Day of Giving 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ community raised more than $835,000 in 24 hours to support Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ during this year\u2019s Greatest Day of Giving, a 24-hour philanthropic challenge that took place March 24 to raise funds for everything from scholarships and academic programs to athletics and student support funds.<\/p>\n<p>Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ surpassed its goal of 2,021 donors for <a href=\"https:\/\/dayofgiving.ucf.edu\/\">Day of Giving<\/a> this year with a total of 3,133 alumni, parents, friends, students, faculty and staff members contributing to a wide range of funds that will have big impact on students and programs campus wide. Donors from almost every state in the country showed their support.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to a group of generous donors, several one-time challenge gifts helped inspire increased giving. As challenges were achieved, bonus funds were \u201cunlocked\u201d \u2013 adding thousands of dollars in support of Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ programs and scholarships. Members of the Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ Foundation Board sponsored a $320,800 challenge gift and members of the Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ Alumni Board\u00a0 sponsored $30,850.<\/p>\n<p>Results are still being tallied, but so far the top-supported funds included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucffoundation.org\/ways-of-giving\">Area of Greatest Need<\/a> ($37,300) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucffoundation.org\/givetofirstgen\">First Generation Scholarships<\/a> ($36,776), Keep Charging On Fund for Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ Athletics ($23,586), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucffoundation.org\/mk40years\">Marching Band Fund<\/a> ($10,772) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucffoundation.org\/joyce\">Joyce DeGennaro Memorial Scholarship<\/a> ($14,325) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucffoundation.org\/limbitless\">Limbitless Solutions<\/a> ($13,320).<\/p>\n<p>A $250,000 gift from <strong>Jessica Blume \u201980<\/strong> and her husband, Ken, will support a scholarship program for business students who are the first in their families to attend college.
