{"id":140519,"date":"2024-04-01T16:17:43","date_gmt":"2024-04-01T20:17:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=140519"},"modified":"2024-04-04T15:56:37","modified_gmt":"2024-04-04T19:56:37","slug":"ucf-celebrates-honors-faculty-with-2024-founders-day-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/ucf-celebrates-honors-faculty-with-2024-founders-day-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ Celebrates, Honors Faculty with 2024 Founders&#8217; Day Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ highlighted more than 150 Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ faculty members for academic excellence and service Wednesday at the 2024 Founders\u2019 Day Faculty Honors Celebration in the Student Union\u2019s Pegasus Ballroom.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2NNghin2lyw\">The celebration<\/a> honored recipients of the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/meet-ucfs-2024-pegasus-professors-who-make-a-global-impact\/\">Pegasus Professor award<\/a>, Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½\u2019s highest faculty honor; the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/ucf-reach-for-the-stars-2024-honorees-leading-the-charge-into-the-future\/\">Reach for the Stars Award<\/a>; the recipient of the inaugural\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/ucf-awards-optics-and-photonics-professor-shin-tson-wu-with-medal-of-societal-impact\/\">Medal of Societal Impact award<\/a>; university excellence award winners; those who recently reached 20, 30, 40, 45 and 48 years of service; educators marking 10 and 20 years with the Faculty Senate; faculty granted\u202f<em>emeritus\u202f<\/em>or\u202f<em>emerita\u202f<\/em>status; and retired and retiring faculty members.<\/p>\n<p>The event also included the unveiling of winners for the Champions of Student Success and Well-Being Award: faculty members Kim Anderson of the College of Health Professions and Sciences and Alison Cares and Amie Newins of the College of Sciences. Together, they lead the Life Happens project, which explores the role traumatic and adverse life experiences play in the lives of college students and ways to help them overcome and succeed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a joy to celebrate extraordinary faculty who model academic excellence, student success and societal impact,\u201d says Michael D. Johnson, Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs. \u201cTheir remarkable work lifts up the university\u2019s excellence and shows us all what Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ can become.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The faculty event was part of a\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/founders-day-2024-join-us-on-april-3-to-celebrate-the-excellence-of-our-people\/\">Founders\u2019 Day
