{"id":64633,"date":"2015-02-26T18:01:31","date_gmt":"2015-02-26T23:01:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=64633"},"modified":"2024-11-18T16:57:40","modified_gmt":"2024-11-18T21:57:40","slug":"ucf-bike-week-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/ucf-bike-week-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Bike Week Cruises to Campus Starting Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The bicycle is king next week as Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ celebrates Bike Week 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Bike Week will pack in a slew of bike-related activities, starting with a bicycle flash mob on Monday that organizers hope will bring together a sea of two-wheeled transportation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s going to be a really fun week of events,\u201d said Student Union communications manager Sara Lane.<\/p>\n<p>The event, which includes 11 activities running from Monday through Thursday, is co-sponsored by the Recreation and Wellness Center and the Student Union. The focus is \u201csafety, sustainability and sport,\u201d Lane said.<\/p>\n<p>It was created to encourage a bike-friendly atmosphere at and around Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½, and to recognize the environmental benefits of bike riding.<\/p>\n<p>Students also have a chance to get a free bike.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers will give away two bikes. One will go to a student randomly selected from those who participate in at least three of the events. (Students will prove their participation by getting a passport stamped and turning it in at the information desks at the Student Union or RWC.<\/p>\n<p>The recipient of the second bike will be chosen based on need. Students can submit an application through KnightConnect <a href=\"https:\/\/ucf.collegiatelink.net\/account\/logonrequired?ReturnUrl=%2Fform%2Fstart%2F59747\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the flash mob, activities include an outdoor spin class, a bike-share day, a triathlon primer, a trail ride at Lake Claire and more.
