{"id":66720,"date":"2015-06-04T15:30:54","date_gmt":"2015-06-04T19:30:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=66720"},"modified":"2020-09-23T13:58:19","modified_gmt":"2020-09-23T17:58:19","slug":"3-opportunities-to-playtest-latest-ucf-student-video-games-this-summer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/3-opportunities-to-playtest-latest-ucf-student-video-games-this-summer\/","title":{"rendered":"3 Opportunities to Playtest Latest Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ Student Video Games This Summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Video game players who want to help playtest some of the latest student ideas coming out of Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½\u2019s Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy can try their skills this summer when they meet up with a few rusty robots, a bumbling mall cop and some other characters on campus.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will be able to play the five different games, meet the graduate students developing the games, and help shape the final projects with feedback.<\/p>\n<p>The games to be tested are:<\/p>\n<li>\u201cLanterns,\u201d an adventure game in which five knights must rescue a world covered in darkness using the last remnants of light.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cMall Cop,\u201d a party game involving four sneaky shoplifters attempting to steal everything they can before the bumbling mall cop catches them.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cTotem,\u201d which lets a player fight as a powerful shaman and use magical powers to destroy an enemy totem.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cJunkers,\u201d a digital card game in which players build up their rusty robots with equipment and power-ups to beat the bolts out of their rivals.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLife Unfolds,\u201d a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/modeling-simulation\/\">simulation game<\/a> about growing up and learning skills from loved ones.<\/li>\n<p>The developers will be on Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½\u2019s main campus recruiting players the day of the playtests:<\/p>\n<li>June 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Student Union, Cape Florida Ballroom 316CD.<\/li>\n<li>June 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Technology Commons, main lounge and glass cubicles.<\/li>\n<li>July 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Student Union, Key West Ballroom 218CD.<\/li>\n<p>The academy was named the No. 2 graduate game-development program last year by <em>Princeton Review<\/em> and its 412 graduates are working at more than 120 companies around the world<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the summer game testing, contact <a href=\"mailto:playtesting@fiea.ucf.edu\">playtesting@fiea.ucf.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Video game players who want to help playtest some of the latest student ideas coming out of Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½\u2019s Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy can try their skills this summer when they meet up with a few rusty robots, a bumbling mall cop and some other characters on campus.
