{"id":66850,"date":"2015-06-11T12:12:44","date_gmt":"2015-06-11T16:12:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=66850"},"modified":"2018-08-28T12:40:36","modified_gmt":"2018-08-28T16:40:36","slug":"guidance-counselors-from-puerto-rico-visit-ucf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/guidance-counselors-from-puerto-rico-visit-ucf\/","title":{"rendered":"Guidance Counselors from Puerto Rico Visit Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Office of Undergraduate Admissions recently hosted a group of 16 high school guidance counselors from Puerto Rico as part of the Autopista<em>Americas<\/em> \u201cReverse Tour.\u201d Autopista is an educational consulting firm that coordinates and conducts group tours and college fairs in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p>The June 4th visit marked the second consecutive year that Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ was selected as a stop during a weeklong tour of institutions in Florida and Georgia. As part of the Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ visit, guidance counselors were treated to an information session in the Duke Energy-Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ Welcome Center, a photo-op with Knightro, and a lecture on beer entitled \u201cThe History of Civilization in a Six Pack.\u201d The lecture, which included a tasting and pairing course, was presented by Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ faculty member, Ed Measom, Rosen College of Hospitality Management\u2019s Anheuser-Busch Beer &amp; Wine Lab. Guests were then joined by Abraham Pizam, dean of Rosen College, along with several faculty and staff for a banquet dinner in the Disney Dining Room.<\/p>\n<p>Eddie Lavigne, president of Autopista<em>Americas<\/em>, is no stranger to Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½. He\u2019s worked alongside representatives from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions before and called Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ a \u201cbig school with personal charm.\u201d Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ will join forces with Autopista again in August when a member of the admissions recruitment team will travel to Puerto Rico for 10 days of college fairs, high school visits and outreach.<\/p>\n<p>Events like the \u201cReverse Tour\u201d are just one part of our strategic efforts to build brand awareness, promote Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½\u2019s academic opportunities, educate students and parents, and develop relationships with key \u00a0influential members\u00a0to continue to recruit the best and brightest students to the Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Office of Undergraduate Admissions recently hosted a group of 16 high school guidance counselors from Puerto Rico as part of the AutopistaAmericas \u201cReverse Tour.\u201d Autopista is an educational consulting firm that coordinates and conducts group tours and college fairs in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and the Caribbean.
