There were 111 students who graduated last year with bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees in aerospace engineering, and more than 120 are expected to graduate this year.<\/p>\n<p>More than 550 students have graduated with an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/degree\/aerospace-engineering-bsae\/\">aerospace engineering<\/a> degree during the past five years.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOrlando is the epicenter of rapid economic growth as more engineering companies begin calling it their home.\u201d \u2013\u00a0Yoav Peles, Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½&#8217;s Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering chair<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cÂ鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½\u2019s ranking as the top producer of talent for the aerospace and defense industries showcases, one more time, the sustained partnership that Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ has established with the aerospace and defense industry to educate the next generation of engineers and computer scientists that this industry needs to perpetuate its continued dominance,\u201d says Michael\u00a0Georgiopoulos, dean of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/college\/engineering-computer-science\/\">College of Engineering and Computer Science<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the Top 5 universities that have provided the most graduates to the industries are: University of\u00a0Florida,\u00a0University of Arizona,\u00a0Pennsylvania State University\u00a0and University of Washington.<\/p>\n<p>Yoav Peles, department chair, says Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½\u2019s graduates are working at some of the top engineering sites in the nation, such as Lockheed Martin, Siemens and the Kennedy Space Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States, Orlando is the epicenter of rapid economic growth as more engineering companies begin calling it their home,\u201d he says, including other companies such as Boeing, Pratt &amp; Whitney, Mitsubishi, Harris\u00a0and Disney.<\/p>\n<p>Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½\u2019s newest engineering program, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/degree\/aerospace-engineering-msae\/\">doctorate in aerospace engineering<\/a>, was recently approved and is accepting applications for the Fall 2019 semester. The department also offers a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/degree\/mechanical-engineering-phd\/\">doctorate in mechanical engineering<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/degree\/aerospace-engineering-msae\/\">master\u2019s degrees in aerospace engineering<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/degree\/biomedical-engineering-ms\/\">biomedical engineering<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/degree\/mechanical-engineering-msme\/\">mechanical engineering<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Aviation Week <\/em>collaborated with the Aerospace Industries Association, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and PwC on the annual study. Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ also has earned a Carnegie Classification of Highest Research Activity, and ranks among the nation\u2019s Top 25 U.S. public universities for the number of patents secured by the National
