The Knights did not drop a single match of the entire tournament, and with Sunday\u2019s 4-0 victory, Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ captured its sixth conference championship in program history and an automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Championship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just so happy for them, especially for our senior (Natalia Serrano), you want her to leave the right way and we did that this year,\u201d says head coach Bryan Koniecko. \u201cUSF pushed us back a little bit late in the match, but we\u2019re happy we clinched it. I\u2019m just ready for our next practice and hopefully the culture we set this year continues on.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed oembed oembed-rich d-flex flex-column align-items-center\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"fr\" dir=\"ltr\">CONFERENCE CHAMPS! \ud83c\udfc6 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ChargeOn?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ChargeOn<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/EnNesZX57h\">pic.twitter.com\/EnNesZX57h<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ Women&#39;s Tennis (@Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½_WTennis) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½_WTennis\/status\/1119993395311710211?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 21, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ redshirt sophomore Valeriya Zeleva was named the tournament\u2019s Most Outstanding Player after winning two singles matches in the tournament, including a straight-set victory against a nationally ranked Ana Roman Dominguez of USF. She also helped Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ claim the doubles point alongside partner Ksenia Kuznetsova against the Bulls in just 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s a stud. When she shows up and plays her game and she plays with passion, she\u2019s as good as anyone in the country,\u201d Koniecko says.<\/p>\n<p>As the No. 1 seed of the tournament, the Knights advanced to The American\u2019s title match for the first time after dominant 4-0 wins over both Memphis and Tulsa in the earlier rounds. Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ became the third team to win the trophy since the conference began six years ago. Only USF and Tulsa had reigned as champion in years past.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday\u2019s victory brings Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½\u2019s total to 22 this year, which ties the school record for most wins in a season (1995 and 1997).<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s tennis team became the fourth Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ squad this season to win a conference trophy, joining football, men&#8217;s soccer (regular season) and volleyball.<\/p>\n<p>The 2019 NCAA Championship will be held May 16-25 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Knights won their first
