In February Central Florida residents and future technologists gathered to learn from academic and industry leaders during NeoCity\u2019s Community STEM Day. Based in Kissimmee, Florida, NeoCity is an emerging technology hub \u2014 and a Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ partner<\/a> \u2014 dedicated to manufacturing and innovating smart sensors, optics and photonics<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During the event, Â鶹ӳ»­´«Ã½ researchers<\/a> in education, engineering<\/a>, and modeling and simulation<\/a> led interactive experiences teaching participants about advanced technologies. K-12 students engaged in activities like video games introducing microprocessor manufacturing, virtual reality headsets simulating aviation, augmented reality devices showcasing complex machinery and a wire maze demonstrating electronic design automation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was an incredible opportunity to engage and inspire our young future scientists, engineers and educators, and their families.\u201d\u2014 Mike Borowczak, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
