Direct Support Organizations & Related Entities
Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½’s seven direct support organizations (DSOs) and one related entity exist solely to benefit the Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½. They support fundraising, research, athletics, academic health activities, facility management, and public-private collaborations, all in line with Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½’s strategic goals.
Oversight of these organizations is vested in the Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½ Board of Trustees and the Florida Board of Governors. University vice presidents, acting as CEOs according to each entity’s governing documents, supervise their operations. Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½’s DSOs and related entity are Florida not-for-profit, federally tax-exempt organizations. Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½ Academic Health, Inc. (Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½AH) supports medical education, research, and patient care through the planning and development of clinical initiatives and affiliated partnerships. Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½AH is partnered with HCA in initiatives that include the development of the Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½ Lake Nona Hospital adjacent to the Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½ Health Sciences Campus. In addition, Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½AH also leases from Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½ space in the Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½ Lake Nona Cancer Center, which it has sublet to private partner/tenants.

Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½ Athletics Association, through its own employees, manages Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½â€™s intercollegiate athletics including oversight of personnel, budgets, debt, NCAA compliance, and recruiting. The Association’s chief executive officer is the University’s VP and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, who reports directly to the Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½ President who serves as the chair of the board.

Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½ Convocation Corporation financed the 10,000-seat Addition Financial Arena, a renovated venue, four student housing residence halls, and two parking garages, as well as retail space known as Knights Plaza. These facilities are owned by the university. The corporation’s revenue covers debt service and operation of the facilities.

Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½ Finance Corporation financed the Burnett Biomedical Sciences building, College of Medicine Medical Education building, and the Dr. Phillips Academic Commons at Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½ Downtown. Although the corporation oversees the management of the facilities and an overall budget of $18.4 million, it has no operations responsibility.

Donations fund student scholarships, invest in faculty excellence, construct facilities, and expand important programs.

Formerly known as the Golden Knights Corporation, the Âé¶¹Ó³»´«Ã½ Stadium Corporation financed the university-owned Spectrum Stadium and Wayne Densch Sports Center. The construction debt is serviced by stadium events and other revenues pledged by the Association. The corporation manages an overall budget of $3.9 million.
